Filmmaking is a Matter of Trust

After the screening of The Clan by Pablo Trapero, the film’s producer Matías Mosteirín held a workshop for students. At the very start, the producer recalled the moment when he met Trapero back in 1999 when working on his his first feature film. The friendship and cooperation continued up to date.

Mosteirín told the audience about the work on The Clan. Since the film had to be completed in a very short period, the director opted for a winning combination: a good cast and a well-known story. Trapero is a highly respected Argentinean director, loved and honoured by the audience. Mosteirín also touched upon the way Trapero gets the inspiration for his movies: he hangs around with the audience in bars and restaurants, listens to what they have to say and asks for their opinion. When asked what he would say to young authors, the producer said that they should believe in what they do, and that it would help them overcome all obstacles. They also need to have faith in the people they work with. At the very end, the Argentinean producer said how impressed he was with Mećavnik, Küstendorf and Professor Emir Kusturica, whose films he watched as a kid.
