Claudio was born in Greece, raised in Venice, married in Taranto, and it was in New York that he was murdered after twenty years of pursuing the American dream. Giacomo Abbruzzese reconstructs his grandfather’s story, immersing us in the New York of the sixties, with Billy Joel’s notes and a gangster movie atmosphere. Through the testimonies and recollections of those close to him, on both sides of the ocean, we discover a mysterious, complex character, constantly on the run. It’s a portrait of a man no one has ever really known.

About Director

Giacomo Abbruzzese

Born in 1983 in Taranto, Southern Italy. After a Master in Cinema at the Universities of Bologna and Montreal, he worked as a photo reporter for the Ente Teatrale Italiano in Jerusalem. In 2009 he was artistic director of the Palestinian television AQTV, an independent TV station in the territories committed to supporting civil society. From 2010 he dedicated himself completely to cinema. Graduated at Le Fresnoy in 2011, his shorts and medium features were screened and awarded at many international festivals including Oberhausen, Viennale, Clermont-Ferrand, Tampere, Indielisboa, Nouveau Cinéma Montreal, Leeds, Winterthur, Dubai. They were broadcasted on TV by Canal Plus, France 3, Sky Art, SVT, Pacific Voice and presented at the Cinémathèque in Paris and in museums like the Macro in Rome and the Mucem in Marseille. His Stella Maris (2014) won the Golden Egg at the 9th Kustendorf. He was artist in residencies at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and Cinéfondation in Cannes.
