Director's Biography

Radu Jude

Born in Bucharest in 1977. Graduated in 2003 at the Filmmaking Department of Media University. He worked as an assistant director. Jude directed short films The Tube with a Hat (2006), which won more than 30 international awards, including those at the Sundance, in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Uppsala etc. and also Alexandra (2007), which was selected in Clermont-Ferrand and awarded in Oberhausen. He also made over 100 commercials. His feature, The Happiest Girl in the World (2009), was selected in Berlin, Toronto, New York, Thessaloniki, Sarajevo and London film festivals, among 50 others. The film was released in cinemas in France, UK, Austria and Spain.

Radu directed and produced an independent film, A Film for Friends (2011), as well as a feature, Everybody in Our Family (2012). The latter was a Romanian-Dutch co-production, which premiered in Berlinale-Forum and was awarded the Heart of Sarajevo at S.F.F.
