Marjane Satrapi - President of the Jury
Details Marjane Satrapi was born in 1969 in Rasht, Iran. Satrapi was the daughter of Marxist intellectuals, and the great-granddaughter of Iran's last emperor. She grew up in Tehran, where she studied at the Lycée Français before leaving for Vienna. Satrapi spent her adolescence in Austria, returning to Iran for college. In college she met her husband Reza and was briefly married and divorced roughly three years later. Satrapi moved to Strasbourg shortly after her divorce, where she studied illustration. In France, she met David B., a French comic artist to whom which she adopted a similar style. After joining the Atelier des Vosges, she was encouraged to create autobiographical graphic novel out of which the Persepolis (Persépolis) series was born.

Sara Driver
Details

Sara Driver was born in 1955 in Westfield, New Jersey.Driver adapted, produced and directed the film version of Paul Bowles’ short story, You Are Not I (1982). It premiered in the U.S. at Joseph Papp’s Public Theatre in New York City and was featured at many international film festivals and museums. In their end-of-the-decade critic’s survey, Cahiers du Cinéma declared it to be one of the best films of the ‘80s.

Jonathan Weisgal
Details With over 30 years experience in all aspects of feature film production and distribution, Jonathan Weisgal’s career includes executive positions at Creative Artists Agency, Fine Line and PolyGram Filmed Entertainment, where he helped launched strategic new businesses. He has been involved in the packaging, production, marketing and distribution of many of the independent film industry’s most notable films, such as Shine, Scent of a Woman, Madonna: Truth or Dare, Four Weddings and a Funeral, and How High, and has experience running several of his own companies. Most recently, he was a producer on Hesher, which will screen in competition at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival.
