Festival ended with presentation of awards


International Film Festival Kustendorf in Drvengrad on Mokra Gora ended with formal ceremony and presentation of awards for the best student films – original sculptures made of genuine eggs – Golden, Silver and Bronze Egg – the work of artist Vladimir Kravček. 

Expressing his gratitude to the present students, jury and audience, the founder and director of Kustendorf Film Festival, a renowned filmmaker Emir Kusturica repeated that this was a non-commercial and non-advertised festival, having the truth-loving and highly acclaimed ethical artists in its jury.  In addition, he said that this was the first festival where everything could be well heard and seen, and it would be remembered by the combination of best conditions of film projections and the use of the state-of-the-art technologies with the accommodation in the houses more than a hundred years old. Kusturica has personally presented all students with the especial scrolls of honor to remind them of their stay in Drvengrad at the Festival which is fully dedicated to the film art.

Award ceremony was preceded by the special award of journalists and critics accredited at the first Kustendorf Film Festival. This award was unanimously granted to the Italian director Edoardo de Angelis for Mystery and Passion of Gino Pacino. The award was presented by Mrs. Dubravka Lakic, the journalist of Politika daily.

The jury comprised of Peter Handke, Andrea Gambeta and Ninos Mikelidis stressed that it had not been easy to choose the best three movies among the 33 shown student releases from the most important film schools of twelve countries:

      The third prize, Bronze Egg was awarded to the director Franco Lolli for the film Like Everybody Else.

      Silver Egg was awarded to the documentary Possessed, the work of British director Martin Hempton.

      The first prize of the Festival, Golden Egg was given to the director Jose E. Iglesias for the film In Between. 

      The first Kustendorf Film Festival was officially closed by the Vice-President of the Serbian Government, Bozidar Djelic.
